At Silica Verfahrenstechnik GmbH we are dedicated to the design and construction of complete adsorption plants adapted to the specific needs of each client. We specialize in adsorption technology, a field in which we are recognized as a competent partner.

Purification of process gases (as for Hydrogen and Syngas production)

Some of the typical applications are: elimination of O2, H2, CO or hydrocarbons from process gases and elimination of CO2 or methanol -among others- through special processes developed by Silica.

  • Catalytic It consists in the fine purification of process gases with noble metal catalysts for the elimination of O2, H2, CO or hydrocarbons. Typical input concentration: between 0.01% and 2%; residual concentration
  • Chemisorption It consists in the fine purification of process gases by contact with copper for the elimination of O2, H2 or CO. The purification is produced by the oxidation or reduction of the copper contact, that is, in the end, the purified gas does not contain reaction gas. The residual concentration of O2 and H2 in the purified gas is always
  • Other types Adsorption can be dried, among others: toluene, xylene, hexane, chlorinated hydrocarbons, alcohols, tetrahydrofuran or cyclohexanone. The normal content of inlet water is between 0.1 and 1.5% by mass; The residual moisture,

Drying of organic liquids

One of the special applications of adsorption technology is the drying of organic liquids. Silica has extensive knowledge about the planning, design and construction of this type of plants. In addition, other unwanted impurities can be eliminated.

Natural gas treatment

In the area of natural gas treatment, Silica offers plants that allow at the same time to dry and reduce the dew point of natural gas hydrocarbons. In silica we have been designing and building adsorption plants for more than eighty years. Thus, our customers benefit from our extensive know-how of the process. Thanks to its immediate availability and its enormous flexibility of operation, the use of adsorption drying plants has given particularly satisfactory results in the underground storage of natural gas. The normal operating range corresponds to a processing capacity of 50,000 Nm³ / h at 600,000 Nm³ / h with a pressure of between 30 bar and 90 bar.  The silica adsorption process also allows the dew point of water and hydrocarbons to be lowered in a single stage of the process.

Purification of exhaust air with solvent recovery (as Adhesives manufacturing plants)

The purification of exhaust air by adsorption is especially suitable for removing organic impurities. Solvents that are recovered in the process can be reused. The experience accumulated over several decades allows us to also treat special substances and mixtures.

  • Plants with steam regeneration It is the classic process with solvent recovery. Silica builds plants with capacity to process up to 300,000 m³ / h. The residual concentration in the purified exhaust air is
  • Plants with inert gas regeneration In the purification of dry exhaust air streams, the solvents are recovered free of water. .
